Our Story
Get to Know Us
Izmir is a city located on the Turkish Aegean Sea. There are Syrian families there who are participating in our project.
About eight years have passed since they fled the Syrian civil war that broke out in 2011 and moved to Turkey, but their lives continue to be difficult.
Currently, Turkey is facing an economic crisis and inflation is increasing. Prices and rents are rising year by year, and the Turkish people as a whole are in a difficult situation.
Furthermore, there are difficult issues for them as Syrians.
that is,
Being Syrian, it is difficult for me to get a job.
Approximately 80% of Turkish citizens currently feel hatred toward Syrians. There are growing voices blaming Syrians as a whole, saying that they (Syrians) are the cause of the economic crisis and deteriorating security.
In fact, when Syrians cause incidents, there are also incidents where Syrian shops and restaurants are attacked by Turks. The image that Syrians are dangerous has spread, and innocent people are finding life difficult. Being Syrian is an obstacle to finding employment, and there is currently no progress in improving living conditions.
Therefore, we decided to plan and sell products that utilize their hand-weaving and embroidery skills. At the same time, we aim to create a mutually beneficial system by also handling specialty products from Turkey.
In the future, I would like to create an environment in Izmir where Turks and Syrians can understand each other and work together.
Social problems caused by refugee discrimination
Often in France and other European countries,“Home GrownTerrorism”This is causing a social problem. There have been cases where young people who are second- and third-generation immigrants, who have lost their livelihoods due to discrimination and prejudice due to the color of their skin or where they were born, have decided to commit suicide bombings or join terrorist organizations.
Here in the Middle East, there have been many cases in recent years where people are unable to find a way to survive other than by joining terrorist organizations such as Islamic State or committing crimes themselves.
We stood up to stop such a negative chain.
